SOHOWINECO

Our Winemakers

"From our experience in the NZ Wine Industry we have selected the best regional terroirs & combined these with our favourite winemakers. The result...distinctive, unparalleled wines from specialists in their realm"

Marlborough born & bred Dave Clouston (Two Rivers of Marlborough) joins the SOHO WINE CO team to produce wines that are true expressions of Marlborough’s unique terrior. Dave's wines are clean, pure, & consistent, with a strong focus on balance, length and texture. High quality & hand crafted wines have earned David gold medals for both his Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. With 23 vintages under his belt it is hard to believe this award winning winemaker is only in his early 30s...his commitment & energy exude throughout his wine & his lifestyle...carving up waves, snow & even the odd dance floor.

SOHO Waiheke winemaker legend Pete Turner completed his winemaking internship with iconic South African winemaker Bruce Jack which is where he was taught that wine needs lots of loving but not so much handling. This has been his inspiration and he has used this philosophy to produce some of NZ's favourite wines whilst working the last 5 years with premium Waiheke vineyard Cable Bay. Pete is now based at Pleasant Valley under the roof of Wine Industry Guru ...Stepi Yelas. Pete's wines have a definite french flair from his time spent at wineries in the Rhone valley & Southern France ..this is very apparent in the 3 wines he produces for SOHO - The Soho Carter Chardonnay, Soho Revolver Bordeaux Blend & Soho Rose.

Pete's philosophy - "wine should tell a story - an expression of the Terror in which it is grown. A great wine should display elegance but also enough interest so that the last glass is as exciting, if not more, than your first". Pete's favourite thing aside from winemaking is indulging in great food and wine – the perfect fit for a SOHO winemaker.

Pioneering winemaker Grant Taylor (Valli Vineyards) joins the SOHO WINE CO team to provide us with an outstanding Central Otago Pinot Noir. He has won the BEST PINOT NOIR at the London International Wine Challenge not once, but twice - a feat achieved by no other winemaker. Grant's philosophy is to ensure wines are a true expression of the specific place they are grown, so when you drink his wine you are enjoying more than just a wine, you are also enjoying a place. Grant’s wines are suffused with personality & charm, & age superbly – some would say they are a reflection of this unique winemaker ... nicknamed the Valli Lama.
