Medium-deep red/purple in colour and superbly ripe, this is an impressive offering from one of the rising stars in New Zealand wine. The bouquet is beautifully perfumed displaying dark plum, chocolate, spice and nutty oak characters. It’s opulent and velvety on the palate with excellent density and supple tannins. A gratifying Syrah that’s only going to get better with age. At its best: now to 2018. $38.00 Moderate availability. 14.5% Screw cap. Dec 2010.
