Founded in 2009 by Rachael Carter—a powerhouse in the wine world and a woman who defines modern entrepreneurial spirit—SOHO was born from family, hustle, and vision.

After conquering the wine packaging world with her screwcap empire (yes, the “Best Screw on the Planet”), Rachael poured her energy into building a brand that would disrupt the status quo — reflecting her passion for style, celebration, and self-expression.

Rachael’s vision was simple: craft premium wines for people like herself — discerning, stylish, and unapologetically real. Bringing Rachael's vision to life is head winemaker, Pete Turner - who believes wines should wear their hearts and roots on their sleeves. His slightly obsessive (yet relaxed) approach brings both precision and character to every bottle, capturing the essence of place with a love for the moment.

With grapes sourced from Waiheke Island, Marlborough, and Central Otago — SOHO produces wines that capture each region’s unique personality and terroir. SOHO operates with a creative, unconventional ethos: grounded in traditional winemaking, but always pushing boundaries. The brand now embraces organic farming and low-intervention practices — aligning with a movement toward sustainability, without compromising elegance or impact.

At the heart of the SOHO experience is their unforgettable Waiheke Island cellar door. Inspired by industrial New York, this striking, design-led space is part rock’n’roll, part art gallery, and 100% Waiheke cool. Surrounded by lush flora and a natural waterfall, it’s a hidden oasis where urban edge meets coastal calm. Dogs? Absolutely welcome — and adored. 🐾
