$150.00

Greeted by an alluring depth of colour, with notes of chocolate dustings and summer black cherry gateau. The palate is plush, rich and savoury with hints of black and red liquorice. Brooding red stone fruits with bursts of dark berry & earthen roots. Superbly structured & seamless, a wine with power, depth and a promise to develop magnificently.

This is immensely appealing on the nose, showing blackcurrant, blueberry, violet, subtle tobacco, and cedar characters. The concentrated palate is both refined and plush, superbly enhanced by velvety texture and layers of chalky tannins. Captivating and engaging with seamless flow and sturdy structure, ensuring its gracious development. At its best: 2027 to 2040.

Winemaker James Rowan really does understand the origin and profile of where these grapes are grown, he also understand longevity, style and the power fruit and judicious winemaking can bring to a wine. Aromas of blackberry fruits, dark skinned preserved cherry, blackcurrant compote, chocolate and smoky barrel spices. There’s a clay and hard stone earthy quality and plenty of barrel smoke and spice layers. On the palate a taut, youthful palate-squeeze with ripe with yet to be tamed and integrated tannins - by cellaring , a backbone of acidity and powerhouse of flavours from fruit to wood, earth and style. A delicious wine with best drinking from 2030 through 2040+.

A blend of 58% Merlot, 21% Petit Verdot, 13% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc and 1% Syrah from Carter Vineyard on Waiheke. Elegant and well-structured, featuring fine-grained tannins and succulent. Cellaring will be rewarded.

Powerful, plush and plummy. Meet one of Waiheke Island’s new wave powerhouse red wines – JC by Soho. This wine represents the pinnacle of great modern reds made in New Zealand today and is led by complex dark berried fruit flavours.

Merlot plays the lead role here with 58% of the wine, bringing softness and weight to the dark fruite density of Petit Verdot with 21 and the ample flesh of Malbec 7%, spicy fruited Cabernet Franc 7% and a smidgeon of Syrah 1%.

This is an outstanding wine with a full body, dry flavours supported by ripe fruit appeal and fresh acidity bringing a lush succulence to this wine.

It drinks well now and clearly has a long life ahead – it will age favourably for at least a decade in the bottle, if stored in a cool, dark space.
